Community Theatre for Ottawa South

ITR is a rural theatre company dedicated to providing people in the former Osgoode and Rideau Townships and surrounding areas with an opportunity to indulge their interests in amateur theatre. Our main activities are geared towards a spring and fall production of 2 and 3 act plays, that are usually comedy, farce or melodrama. From time to time, we also do additional shorter productions at various locations throughout the community. We welcome anyone and everyone who shares our love of theatre, no matter what your interest or level of past experience. To find out more about the ITR Theatre group - it's activities, history, and newsletter - check out the About ITR. If you are interested in auditioning for future plays, working behind the scenes or providing support in any way, check out our Auditions Page and our Volunteers Page.

World Premiére of
Shorthanded - A Ladies Game

In fall 2017, Oct 20-21st and Oct 27-29th, we will pay tribute to Canada's game with a play about hockey old-timers - with a twist! The playwright, Michael Grant from Elmira Ontario, has rewritten his play “Shorthanded” at ITR's request as “Shorthanded – A Ladies Game”: an all-female version of the hilarious original. We are honoured to be presenting the first-ever performances this fall. This show will honour not only the “good old hockey game” but also the tremendous advances that Canadian women have made in sports.

It’s the seventh game of the finals. Twenty years after a crushing defeat, the ladies have one opportunity for redemption. Will being shorthanded destroy their last chance of a comeback? This hilarious and touching comedy explores the roots of friendship, loyalty, and community. Join the ladies as they share their joys and woes… and drink beer… and eat chocolate!

Tickets are now on sale. See our Tickets Page for more information.

We have several bonuses for our audiences at this show! There will be cameo appearances by special guests at each performance. Also, the playwright has agreed to host a Q&A session after the show on October 20 and 21, for those who wish to stay.

ITR's Tribute to Canada's 150th Birthday

In honour of Canada's upcoming 150th birthday in 2017, ITR chose 3 plays with Canadian connections. This past November we presented our highly successful “Norm Foster Double-Double” to celebrate Canadian talent in the theatre world. In the spring of 2017, we presented “Lafferty’s Wake” as a tribute to the Canadian mosaic, and the strong Irish heritage in our area.
